The match organised by Lieut. Lawrie between the I Zingari team and the Rangers, for the benefit of the 3rd L.R.V.’s Drill Hall came off on Wednesday evening last, and ended in a draw of 1 goal each. The Rangers played the identical team that represented them in the Charity Cup, while the Zinigari team was composed exclusively of Queen’s Park players. In the first half with the wind the Zinigari pressed having occasionally hard lines, but eventually scoring a goal through a simple error on Chalmers part. In the second period the ‘light blues’ had their innings, and tested the ability of the defence to its utmost. They ultimately equalised the score, but were unable to pull off the match. The defence of each team was its strong point – Jack being as good as his master in this respect – but the Zinigari forwards were a far smarter lot with the ball than their opponents, although there was an improvement shown by the blues extreme wingers. The game was a most friendly, if not a very brilliant one. The teams have agreed to meet again on Wednesday week, both elevens receiving gold badges for their services.
