It may be safely suggested that the absence of Cunningham, Morton and McCandless materially affected the strength of the Rangers side at Easter Road. They gave quite a mediocre display not one associated with that of the probable Cup and League winners. On the first halfs showing they were decidedly inferior to the Hibernian side and beaten practically in every department. Manderson, operating at left back, and Reid, his partner, blundered time and again, Rangers goal came simply. Dixon sent Lawson off, the latters cross being armed quite inadvertently by McGinnigle when no scoring opportunity was in sight. Yet the resultant penalty taken by Archibald, put the Light Blues on the lead. From this point they were practically a defensive company. Dunn, Miller and Anderson toyed with the Rangers defence, ably backed up by Shaw. That goals did not come was the fault of defective shooting and goalkeeper Robbs ability. The custodian did remarkably well. He was at the other end of the goal when Aberson and Dunn cut out the work for Ritchie to equalise. It was only in the second half that we saw Rangers take a fair share of the play, but it was not sustained, and later Robb was again hard pressed to avoid further trouble. Rangers, on play, scarcely deserved the point they carried away. Only Robb, Johnstone, Archibald and Bowie gave indications of their recognised ability. None bettered Shaw, who is rapidly developing as a centre-half. Dunn, Anderson and Harper on the Hibs side were sound triers
