Match Trivia
The return fixture between these clubs took place at Easter Road, Edinburgh, in foggy weather, and before about 6000 spectators. The opening stages were of a lively nature, first the one side and then the other taking up the running. The Hibernian for a while continued to hare age their opponents, and a shot from McGeachan, and a long drive from Harrower caused Dickie to be on the alert. As the game proceeded the chances favoured the Rangers, though they showed very bad judgment at-close quarters, and ultimately a curling ball from Hamilton at long range fairly deceived Rennie and landed in the net. To this the Hibs replied gallantly, and McGeachan looked like scoring when Henderson brought him down within the penalty line. Campbell took the kick and equalised. Until the interval the Rangers, who were showing very fine form, did most of the pressing. Halftime – One goal each. On resuming the Rangers pressed. The Hibs then had a look in, but McGeachan’s shots went harmlessly past. After this the Rangers pressed the most, but the lay was poor in comparison to the first half. A great shot by Gibson, who had only the goalkeeper to beat was followed by a corner. The halfback himself took the kick, and the ball going out to Robertson, the latter scored. The Hibernian made a bold attempt to get on terms of equality but failed. Result – Rangers 2 goals: Hibernian 1 goal. The drawings amounted to £120 16s, with £12 9s 6d taken at the stands
