Player Profile : Brian Heron
A left sided player, Brian made nine first team appearances during season 1969/70, his debut coming on 11th October 1969 against Hibernian at Ibrox. All of his appearances came under Manager Davie White.
He played in league victories over Dunfermline Athletic, Dundee, Airdrieonians and Kilmarnock but it was another season where Rangers could only manage second place.
A 3-1 defeat to Gornik Zabre at Ibrox in the ECWC proved to be the final Gers appearance for Brian. Famously, it also marked the end of White’s tenure as Rangers boss.
Along with Bobby Watson, Brian moved to Motherwell on 13th March 1970 in a swap deal that would mark the beginning of Peter McCloy’s long association with Rangers.
Heron spent three years at Fir Park before moving to Dumbarton. Latterly, he moved down to England where he had spells with Oxford United and Scunthorpe United.
