Helensburgh winning the toss chose to play with the wind and a slight elevation of the ground in their favour . The ball being kicked of by Rangers, was kept neatly in the centre of the field , neither side having gained any advantage when half time was called. Goals being then changed , the Rangers began to press their opponents – the Messes McNeil getting the ball at their feet had a splendid run up to the Helensburgh goal when it was cleverly kicked through by Mr W McBeath. The ball being again in motion the Rangers continued to give their opponents hard work to protect their goal and after one or two determine tussles in front of the Helensburgh goal the ball was kick through by Mr J Yuill, the game resulting in favour of the Rangers by two goals to nothing. The playing of Mt D Watson (goal), J Campbell and W McNeil (back) and J Campbell (half-back), for the Rangers was very good, and for Helensburgh A McPherson (back), R Smith (half back) and D Miller (forward) deserve notice.
