Match Trivia
Under the auspices of the Inter-City League the above teams played their return match at Tynecastle Edinburgh, in glorious weather and in presence of a large attendance. Both sides were weakly represented, especially the light blues. It was early soon in the opening of the game that the Rangers front rank were no match for the opposing defence, so easily did the Hearts back division hold them in check, Hyslop being a mere passenger. The Hearts were given several chances, but failed to score, and halftime arrived with no scoring. The Hearts rushed the game in the second half, McCracken being conspicuous by placing the ball nicely amongst the forwards, and Porteous was the first the find the net, to be followed in quick succession by McLean and Livingstone. A breakaway by the Rangers ended in J Miller scoring. Immediately on restarting Livingstone beat Dickie. Until the finish the Hearts had the best of the play, and the game ended – Hearts 4 goals: Rangers 1 goal.
