Match Trivia

This match was played at Garelochhead on Friday last. Although the weather was unfavourable there was a large turnout of spectators, who seemed to take much interest in the game. Play was continued with great spirit on both sides, but the efforts of the Rangers soon began to tell on the home club who had to act on the defensive, and Mr M McNeil successfully dribbled the ball through quite a crowd of his opponents, and scored the first for his sides amidst cheering. Ends being changed, the Dollopers fought very pluckily to retrieve their loss, but the steady play of theirs opponents was too much for them, and another goal was kicked by Mr P McNeil. The home team afterwards kept their opponents well off their goal for some time, but Mr McBeath succeeded in passing the goal-keeper and sending the ball under the tape. This being the maiden match of the Garelochhead representatives, they played very well and with constant practice will soon be formidable opponents. this was a 10-a-side match
