Twenty year old Lee signed for Rangers in December 1998 and joined Dick Advocaat's star studded squad packed full of internationalists.
A talented midfielder with undoubted natural ability, Lee had attracted much interest whilst starring for Linfield in his homeland and where he was, unimaginatively, tagged as having the potential to become the new George Best. He certainly did had some high profile admirers, both Walter Smith (Everton) and David Moyes (Preston) known to be keen on securing Feeney’s services.
Instead, Lee chose to make the move to Glasgow but despite spending more than three years at Ibrox his sole appearance came within weeks of his arrival. A midweek league encounter saw Rangers travel to Dens Park and running out comfortable 4-0 winners. Charlie Miller, also getting a rare opportunity under Advocaat, would net twice before being replaced by Lee.
Failing to make the breakthrough, Lee returned to Linfield in 2002.
