Match Trivia

Compared with Saturday’s Cup-tie on the same ground the League match yesterday at Brockville between Falkirk and Rangers was a drab affair. Rangers missed the steadying influence of Cunningham and Falkirk felt the absence of Dougal. Each side scored a goal and the result pleased everybody. Falkirk fought an uphill fight, for in the fifteen minute they lost Cowan, who injured a leg. It was shortly after Cowan’s retiral that Rangers scored when Morton centred. Allan headed out and Malone trapped the leather and shot it home. Rangers were seldom far away from Ferguson, but the goalkeeper and his backs put up a resolute defence and held out. The Light Blues were again the better side in the second half, but in a breakaway Paterson equalised. Gray was the more reliable Ibrox back. Craig caught the eye most at half-back, while Morton and Malone were the most resourceful forwards. Alan was in great form. Cairns was a hard grafter
