Last night the Scottish cup holders visited Falkirk, and played the local team in presence of a large attendance of spectators. Rangers brought a strong team, including Gibson late of Sunderland. Falkirk played with a strong breeze against them in the first half. Play was in favour of the Rangers at the start, and in 10 minutes A McCreadie scored the first goal for the Rangers. Two minutes later Steel scored a second goal for the Rangers. Falkirk than had a brisk attack on Montgomery’s charge, but the Rangers custodian cleared his goal. Rangers were soon again back, and McPherson and Barker scored the third and fourth goals for the Rangers in quick succession. The remainder of the first half was in favour of the Rangers, but no more scoring took place. Halftime – Rangers 4 goals: Falkirk 0. Immediately on resuming Greig scored Falkirk’s first goal. Nearly half an hour had gone when McPherson scored a fifth goal for the Rangers followed a couple of minutes later by a sixth from the foot of Boyd. Result – Rangers 6 goals: Falkirk 1 goal.
