Match Trivia
This tie, which was drawn at Goodison Park on Thursday, was replayed at Celtic Park on Saturday before fully 12,000 spectators. Play was rather tame in the opening stages till Speedie sent a soft ball past Kitchen, the goalkeeper evidently thinking the ball was going past. The Liverpool players got well into line, and Dilly netted after a miss by Crawford. The Rangers pressed for a time, but McDougall was in poor form. Following up this success Everton went through again, and after Young had overrun the ball, Brearley scored a second point. Halftime Everton 2 goals: Rangers 1. The restart saw play of a much brighter nature, the Rangers for a time carrying all before them, but their luck at goal was very cold. About 15 minutes from the close Hamilton dashed past Henderson, and drawing Kitchen out of his goal he scored the equaliser. The Rangers thereafter monopolised the play and after a capital run, Walker the Rangers latest recruit capped a great afternoons play by beating Kitchen for the third time. Result Rangers 3 goals: Everton 2 goals. Gate £245; stands £38; total £283.
