The conditions – a westerly gale accompanied by intermittent showers – were all against good football at Dens Park. With the wind behind them, Dundee did all the aggressive work in the first half, but a snatch goal by McColl in the first three minutes, enabled the visitors to cross over with this lead. The second half was very even on play, but Rangers had distinctly the pull in judgment and workmanship
