Match Trivia
This match, which was contested under splendid weather conditions, attracted a very large crowd to Dens Park, close on 12,000 spectators being present. The Rangers opened against a strong wind, and scored in the first five minutes though Smith, from a pass by Hamilton. Boyle equalised for Dundee after a faulty header by Drummond. Dundee had the better of the exchanges and Dickson scored again, but was ruled offside. Shortly afterwards the same player beat Watson with a low shot. Halftime – Dundee 2: Rangers 1. Play in the second half was fast, and exciting, Muir did fine work in goal for Dundee. Although playing against a strong wind the home team kept up a strong pressure, and Drummond tripping Dickson a penalty was awarded, from which Sharp in the closing minutes made victory sure for Dundee. A fine game ended – Dundee 3: Rangers 1. The drawings at the gates and stands amounted to £344 odds.
