Rangers had to fight hard for victory at Boghead. Stewart opened the coring for Dumbarton after 12 minutes, but McPherson equalised six minutes later. It was a grand second half. McPherson had RangersÂ’ second goal two minutes after the restart, and McPhail their third 20 minutes later. Dumbarton put up a great fight in the closing stages and in the last minute Stewart scored from a penalty kick. Rangers were best served by Jenkins, Cowan, Simpson McPhail and Duncanson.
