Andrew John Dowie was a product of the Rangers Academy and from a young age was in and around the first team squad.
The central defender made his first senior appearance for the Club in the final league match of season 2001/02, replacing Christian Nerlinger during a 1-1 draw with Dunfermline Athletic at East End Park. This would prove to be his one and only competitive first team appearance although he did find the net as a strong Rangers side defeated Linfield at Windsor Park in a July 2003 Challenge Match.
On leaving Ibrox, Andy would go on to serve a number of Scottish sides with distinction including Dunfermline Athletic, Ross County and Queen of the South. Many will remember his commanding performances against Rangers for QOTS at Palmerston during season 2014/15 as both sides looked to gain promotion from the Scottish Championship.
A great competitor and leader on the pitch, Andy would finish his senior career with Dumbarton where he captained them to their first domestic final in 121 years, narrowly losing to Inverness in the 2017/18 Challenge Cup. He would make over 500 senior career appearances.
