An emergency signing to cover an injury crisis at Ibrox, veteran goalkeeper Andy Dibble made his Rangers debut at Parkhead on 16th March 1997 just 10 days after the side had suffered a Scottish Cup defeat at the same venue.
It was Celtic’s final opportunity to try to derail our ambitions of a ninth successive league championship and it would be difficult to imagine a more intense occasion on which Andy could have been thrust into the limelight.
Fortunately, Andy passed the test with flying colours, keeping a clean sheet as Gers all but secured the title with another victory in the latest explosive Old Firm clash.
His stay may have been brief but, unquestionably, he answered the call in our hour of need and wrote himself into the history books.
