Match Trivia
Played on Barrowfield Park, the Clyde opened most auspiciously, and had two corners in quick succession. A foul followed in close proximity to the Rangers goal, but Gow relieved. The Clyde returned, and a most exciting scrimmage ensured, the visitors goal being literally packed. The Rangers opened out, but Gillespie got on the ball, and with a fine slanting shot registered the first goal for the ground men. There was a marked difference in the style of the contestants. The Rangers adopted short close and passing tactics; while the Clyde indulged in long cross onward passing, which seemed more profitable, with less individual effort. The Rangers were only baulked temporarily, for close to halftime they returned and equalised, halftime being reached with the game standing 1 goal each. No time was lost in restarting, and the Clyde repeated their sensational opening of the first half by once more scoring, Neaves passing to Ross, who shoe low out of Reid’s reach. A grand effort by the Rangers was rewarded with a goal, McPherson placing well to McCreadie, who very smartly equalised. Both sides tried hard to gain the winning goal, but there was no further scoring, and the gamed of two 30’s ended – a draw 2 goals each
