Match Trivia

At Celtic Park, Glasgow estimated attendance 42,000 drawings (gate and stands) £1198. Celtic kicked off, and their forwards assisted by Hay started at a great pace, which was kept up for fully twenty minutes. The home team as more methodical in their play than the Rangers, and fifteen minutes after the start, Hamilton headed the first goal of the match from a fine centre by McMenemy. Before the interval Bennett brought the score level, completely bewildering Adams. Up to halftime play continued if anything in favour of the Parkhead team. The play in the second half was not nearly so good as in the opening period, and the only good features in it were the delightful footwork of McMenemy and the well-judged goals scored by Bennett and Somers for their respective sides. Celtic it may be mentioned missed a penalty kick
