Match Trivia
This important League Match was decided at Parkhead, in beautiful weather, before quite 45,000 spectators, the gate being £1003 and stands and enclosure £297. The start was most sensational, Storrier bring down Campbell unfairly, and a penalty kick being awarded, from which Neil scored. The Celtic had the best of the play in this half, assisted as they were by the wind; but their forwards failed to take advantage of several chances, though Bell narrowly missed scoring on two occasions. Miller was in great form for the Rangers, and had hard lines on one occasion, McArthur just saving a splendid shot. The second half opened as sensationally as the first period, the Rangers scoring by McPherson of a corner in the first minute. This second success steadied the Rangers who improved as tie went on, their halves holding the Celtic pretty safely. A third goal ell to them from a free kick, and a fourth from Campbell, who took up a fine centre from Smith, and shot splendidly. Towards the finish the Celts made several sporadic attempts to score, but weakened by the lameness of Welford and Storrier, failed to make headway, and had to retire beaten by 4 goals to 0.
