Played at Celtic Park before about 25,000 spectators and in splendid weather. After the opening minutes the Rangers made the pace very fast, and assailed the Celtic goal with a persistence, which warranted success, but it was 20 minutes ere the opening goal came, A Smith beating McPherson close in. The Celts were to all appearance a beaten team, and is was seldom they got beyond midfield their forwards being unable to make any progress against Gibson, Stark and Robertson who played a perfect halfback game. The Rangers held the upper hand for some time in the second half, but a clever bit of work by Orr the Celts broke through and Dickie, and his backs were kept constantly on the move, and after some narrow escapes the Celts has a penalty awarded them for Smith handling, and Campbell equalised. The pace of the first half began to tell on the Rangers, and their shooting was less vigorous. Mackie had a good try near the close, but the ball struck the upright and rebounded into play.
