Willie McStay Benefit Match, Some 5000 spectators saw a capital game between the ‘Old Firm’ at Parkhead in Willie McStay’s benefit match. Celtic forced the pace at the outset. McFarlane let go a powerful shot, which struck the cross-bar and rebounded into play. Crilley lying handy, beat Robb with a fine shot. Rangers were more in the picture in the second half. Lawson and Henderson showed some excellent play. Shaw saved cleverly from Rollo after a fine cross by Archibald. After Hansen had missed an opening by shooting too high, Celtic forwards got down on the Rangers’ defence, and McLean added a second goal with a strong angular shot. A third goal fell to Celtic, this time from a penalty-kick taken by Crilley. Five minutes from the finish, Hansen scored Rangers’ only goal. Celtic were the better team. Crilley showed up well, particularly in the first half. McLean and McAtee were the pick of the other forwards. For Rangers, Hansen and Henderson were prominent in the second half. McCandless had some hefty bouts with McAtee. The ‘match-box’ draw for a motor cycle was postponed in consequence of some vouchers not being returned
