Match Trivia
This match took place at Celtic Park in the best football weather before 25,000 spectators. The Rangers were the first to assert themselves, and after several unsuccessful tries at Adams, Hamilton picked up the ball from a forward header by Mackie and scored. The Celts played with great earnestness for the equaliser, and from a corner taken by Bennett the ball was scraped between the posts. The Rangers appealed for some infringement, but the referee after consulting the linesman allowed the point. The game was equally contested to halftime. Halftime- A draw 1 goal each. Play was very spirited in the second half, and both goals early ran narrow escapes. Keen play by the Rangers forwards resulted in a second goal, scored by Mackie. This served to rouse the already active Celts, and Bennett equalised with a shot from near the touchline and close to the corner flag, Watson however might have saved. There were many exciting passages during the last ten minutes, but no further scoring resulted. Result – A draw 2 goals each. Gate money - £578; stands and enclosure £64 – total £642
