Match Trivia
The second of the series of matches arranged by Councillor Cooke, Galashiels, for the purpose of raising funds to provide a pavilion for juniors in Galashiels, took place at Mossilee last night, when the Rangers were opposed by an eleven representative of the Borders. The weather, though cold, was favourable, and there was a good attendance. The First Leaguers did all the pressing at the start, and the forwards combining well, the Borderers’ back division had an anxious time of it, Alex Smith opened the scoring for the Rangers ten minutes from the start, and some pretty forward play culminated in McColl also finding the net. This way followed shortly after by May scoring another, and the game being carried to the other end, Ross (Kelso) headed through for the Borders. McColl, who had been showing fine work in the centre, registered a fourth goal, and at half-time the Rangers led by four goals to one. In resuming, the ‘Light Blues’ continued to monopolise matters, and Dalrymple and May added to the score. The Borderers had one or two breaks-away but were never really dangerous. A one-sided game ended in a win for the Rangers by six goals to one
