Davie Armour

David Armour (1974 to 1979)

Midfielder Davie Armour signed for Rangers in 1974 and was part of Joe Mason’s successful Reserve side who would win the League & League Cup double during season 1974/75.

Along with Chris Robertson, Gordon Boyd, Martin Henderson and Alex O’Hara, Davie would go on to gain experience in the Rangers first team.

Armour’s debut came at the start of season 1975/76, Rangers defeating Queen’s Park by three goals to nil in a Glasgow Cup tie at Ibrox under Jock Wallace. It was a competition Davie would go on to win during his time at Rangers, Celtic the defeated finalists in 1979.

A left sided player, Davie was selected twice by John Greig for league matches during season 1978/79 in addition to appearing in a League Cup victory over Arbroath.

On leaving Rangers in 1979, Armour went on to play regularly for both Ayr United and Cowdenbeath.

Davie died in 2004 at the age of just 51.
