Match Trivia
At Airdrie before a crowd of 8000. The Rangers began in tip-top fashion their forwards passing with splendid judgement. As a result they drew first blood, May leaving Duncan no chance to save. The Airdrie side could not get into their stride, apparently being more than matched by the Rangers halves. The referee granted a penalty kick, and Speedie placed his side two up. Right on till halftime the Rangers held the game generally through the inability of the Airdrie forwards to do aught right, and throwing away what chances they had by the wildest shooting. At halftime the Rangers led comfortably by two to none, and on play deserved that advantage. The second half was barely began until the better side of Airdrie attack was in evidence. Their forwards let themselves loose, and as a result the Rangers backs had a sore time of it, so much so that between Easton and McEwan looking after O’Rorke they lost the ball, and the Airdrie centre smartly accepted the chance by fairly beating Sinclair with a fast close in shot. For a time thereafter the Airdrieonians were all over the Rangers, whose defence wavered and were often in sore arrays. The old time champions eventually got over their rough time, and played was mediocre. But the Airdrieonians were not done, and with six minutes to go they fairly shelled Sinclair’s charge. The ball bobbed about the goal, three corners were given in rapid succession, and off the last Gildea, the Forfarshire player smartly shot on the equaliser. The Rangers were ultimately fortunate to get off with a draw of 2 goals each
