The League game at Airdrie attracted a large crowd, a record for the season. Play opened very fast. Archibald was conspicuous on the right with fine crossing. On one occasion Bernard saved miraculously from a clever shot from Pursell. Rankin carried play to the Rangers’ goal – a good effort that closed with an unproductive corner. Sergeant Reid made a big difference as Airdrie’s centre forward, but Dixon was in top form, and the prolific goal-scorer got few if any scoring chances. Close on half-time Cairns opened the scoring with a low shot from close range, and the interval found Rangers leading by one goal to nil. During the closing half play was fairly even. Airdrie’s new outside left, came into the picture with a lovely cross, and Sam Anderson popped the leather into the net. McDiarmid with a glorious chance to score rattled the wood. Rangers at this stage experienced hard luck. Hart headed against the uprights. Airdrie’s Reid got away, and was making clean through when brought down by an opponent. Rangers scored the winning goal somewhat luckily, Hart doing the needful. Bernard ought to have saved with ease. Rangers were lucky in winning chiefly owing to the unfortunate slip of Bernard, who otherwise did some clever saving. On the run of play Rangers had slightly the better of a hard, fast and well-contested game. Airdrie’s new players did well, especially McKee. Archibald was best for Rangers
