Match Trivia

The first visit of the Rangers to Aberdeen excited great interest in the northern capital, and a drawn game was accounted very satisfactory for the Pittodrie team. In the Rangers combination there was a change on account of Spiers being unable to travel. His place was taken by Rankine of Cowdenbeath. In the first twenty minutes Aberdeen played a class game, and had their full share of the honours. The Rangers were perhaps lucky in not having had a goal or two scored against them, before they crossed over. In the second period Aberdeen scored from a penalty, the kick having been negotiated by McNicol. Towards the close of the game Kyle was ordered off the field for alleged illegal tactics towards Edgar, who had to be assisted to the pavilion. The Rangers afterwards pulled themselves together, and Rankine equalised. Result – Aberdeen 1: Rangers 1
