Ian Redford (1980 to 1986)
Ian signed for Rangers in February 1980 for a then club record fee of £210,000, going on to make 247 first team appearances during his six years at Ibrox. In that time he won the Scottish Cup once (1981) and played in two League Cup Finals (1981/82 and 1984/85).
Redford scored 42 goals for Rangers including a vital last minute equaliser against his boyhood heroes St. Johnstone at Muirton Park on Valentines Day 1981. This effectively kept Rangers in the Scottish Cup and whilst he would suffer the disappointment of missing a last minute penalty in the final against Dundee United, Rangers would go on to win the replay.
Ian would firmly make amends in the League Cup Final the following season when his sublime chip on 88 minutes would win the Cup for Rangers, once again at the expense of United.
Eight years after leaving Rangers, he was part of the Raith Rovers side who famously won the League Cup, defeating Celtic at Ibrox on penalty kicks.
Ian died in January 2014 at the aged of 53.
