‘Waggy’ arrived in Scotland during the summer of 2015 as Rangers looked to escape the Championship at the second time of asking, now under the management duo of Warburton & Weir.
Waghorn’s return of 20 goals in 25 league appearances during that debut season played a huge part in the return to the top flight although serious injury sustained in a Scottish Cup tie at Rugby Park proved a major setback just as he was becoming a favourite with the fans.
Season 2016/17 proved to be somewhat of an anti climax as Rangers struggled to achieve any consistency on their return to the Scottish Premiership. Waghorn was not immune to this and his form suffered with confidence low.
Leaving Rangers at the start of season 2017/18, Martyn scored 44 goals in 78 appearances whilst at Ibrox.
He would join Ipswich Town before earning a big money move to Derby County (the first of two spells at Pride Park) and becoming an established player in the English Championship.
