Match Trivia

There was a very gratifying attendance at Douglas Park on Monday evening, when the Academicals were opposed by the Rangers in a game for the benefit of Hugh Edmonds, the local club’s goalkeeper. The Rangers turned out a strong team, while the home lot were without the services of McIntyre and Scholes. In the first half the Rangers the Rangers scored twice. The first goal came from the foot of Walker, who was presented with a rare opening from a long cross by Kyle. The second goal should never have been granted, Chalmers, the scorer being a long way offside. In the second half the Rangers did not over=exert themselves, and latterly the Academicals had their full share of the game. Sinclair was beaten by a fine shot from Atkinson, but try as they liked, the homesters failed to draw level, and they had to retire beaten by two goals to one
