Match Trivia
Last night Rangers and Celtic played an exhibition game in Inverness. Crowds poured into the town from north and east, and quite 3000 witnessed the game. Celtic in the first had the assistance of a strong wind. Clever play was shown by both teams, but Celtic had more of the play. McAtee, Gallagher and Jarvis put in pretty play, but they were met by a magnificent defence from Gordon, Logan, Ormonde and Muir. So brilliant was the Rangers’ defence that the Celtic forwards could hardly get in a decent shot. Rangers on the other hand, had numerous clever runs, especially their right wing, Paterson and Parker, whose play was greatly admired. At the interval neither team had scored. In the second period Rangers, like Celtic found it exceedingly difficult to get a shot. Celtic offered an impregnable defence, in which nobody stood higher than McNair. The Celtic right wing were tricky to a degree, and when they got a penalty a goal looked a certainty, but Young kicked past. Up to the close the game, if not brilliant was interesting, and it was perhaps fitting that it should end in a draw of no goals.
