Match Trivia

The visit of Rangers to Dalymount Park, Dublin was attended by disagreeable weather conditions. The Bohemians lost the toss, and started against the wind. At once a move by Parsons and West carried play to Lock’s and, and a free kick just outside the 18 yard like, gave McKenzie a chance to test his shooting powers, but he placed wide. The visitors, from the goal kick, gave a glimpse of their power, but first Hogg shot wide, and the Reid did likewise. Johnston raced away, and sent in a nice centre, along the ground, but Lock cleared before either Hannon or McDonnell could get up, and then in a race between McConnell and Brown the Rangers forced a flag kick, but it was not improved upon, and soon after Galt shot behind with a long range try. Then Rangers became very aggressive, but Reid sent behind when he had only Hehir in front of him. Still they were not to be denied, and ten minutes from the start Goodwin let Hehir helpless with a fast shot from 25-yards range. Johnston, who was playing a fine game, now forced a corner, which was cleared, nut the same player brought Lock to his knees a moment later. Parsons and West now participated in an incursion to the Rangers’ territory, but West shot into the side of the rigging, and repeated the performance a second later. Rangers were now monopolising the play, and Hogg lost a nice chance as he got a pass from Reid. Bohemians changed the venue, and McKenzie tested Lock with a long shot without avail, and then Hehir had to save at the expense of a corner. Hannon was loudly applauded for a brilliant piece of play, and giving out to Parsons, the latter had hard lines with a shot that crossed the goal and went out. At half-time Rangers were leading by 2 goals to 0. After the restart the Bohemians pressed, and before long McDonnell beat Lock, and reduced lead amidst cheers. Soon after Brennan passed well to McDonnell, whose shot again puzzled Lock completely. Gibson scored a third goal for Rangers with a fine shot, but the Bohemians equalised just before the close
