Match Trivia
There were few outstanding features in the whole of the game at Cappielow for the benefit of McIntosh. Save for an occasional brilliant run by Hogg on the Rangers’ right, and some clever custodianship by both goalkeepers, there was little to keep interest on edge. In the first half Rangers got on the lead – somewhat softly, it must be confessed – after five minutes play. Miller was the marksman, but much of the credit for the goal was due to the effective wing work of Hogg. A few minutes later Reid piloted through a second goal, and though Walker the Greenock centre managed to notch a point for his side, Hogg got another for the Light Blues near the interval. This was undoubtedly the best goal of the game and the skill with which the ex-Sunderland flier, from a difficult angle ‘screwed’ the ball into the net was a treat. In the second portion the game was quite featureless. Hogg successfully brought off another of his clever ‘screws,’ and Gordon emulated the good example
