James Stark Benefit Match. Played at Ibrox Park yesterday for the benefit of J Stark, there were 3000 spectators. Hearts kicked off, but immediately McColl and Law carried play into Allan’s end, where Richardson given a grand chance of opening the score. The shooting on both sides during the opening twenty minutes was rather weak, but gradually the Hearts put a little more force into their shots, with the result that Anderson beat Sinclair, followed shortly afterwards with another from Waugh. In the last few minutes of the first half Rangers easily held the upper hand, and McColl scored their only point, the halftime being – Hearts 2: Rangers 1. On resuming Rangers were not long in getting the equaliser, Richardson accepting a well timed pass from McCall and giving Allan no chance to save. Play continued in favour of the Rangers, and McColl gave his side the lead from a penalty kick. In the last minute of the game, however Thomson who worked hard for his side, was the means of enabling Axford to again draw the score level. A good game ended in a draw 3 goals each. The gate drawings amounted to £50, but with the tickets sold the total should reach £100
