Match Trivia
Only about a thousand spectators witnessed this game at Belfast on Saturday, the miserable weather keeping many away. The Ibrox team was not quite at full strength, but it was too many for the ‘bhoys,’ who had to retire well beaten by 3 goals to 0. For the first fifteen minutes of the first half the Rangers let their opponents do all the attacking, and it was only after Mackie opened the scoring for them that they showed something like form. The Glentoran men, however, stood up well to their more experienced opponents, and the Rangers’ defenders were not long idle, Watson bringing off several good saves. Interval – Rangers 1; Glentoran 0. Soon after the restart Mackie again scored, and after the Glasgow men had put in a great amount of attack work, Mackie again got through, and thus secured all the Rangers’ points. This finished the scoring in a game which was all in favour of the popular Light Blues
