At Bury in a friendly fixture. The weather was fine and bright. Rangers were fully represented, but Bury played several reserve men. In the first quarter of an hour Richard scored for the homesters, and A Smith equalised, the interval arrived one each. An interesting game ensured after the interval. The meeting of such teams as the holders of the English Cup and the Scottish Cup respectively yesterday at bury naturally excited considerable interest, and there were fully 7000 spectators present. The Rangers opened with fine aggressive work, and Hamilton ran through the defence, but missed with his final effort. After eight minutes Richard tricked Stark and Fraser beautifully and scored with a lovely shot. After thirty-two minutes Alex Smith dashed in and beat Wolstenholme with a crashing shot. At the interval the score was 1 goal each. Bury attacked vigorously on restarting. Swann testing Dickie’s capabilities in goal and Wood Striking the crossbar. Henderson tripped Richard in the penalty area, and Brown scored from the penalty kick. Wolstenholme cleared twice from Mackie and Walker, and Bury thus won by 2 goals to 1. The Rangers, who were not at full strength, were seen to advantage in the opening stages of the game. Hamilton’s splendid run through the Bury defence was well worthy a goal. Bury afterwards improved somewhat, and Richards goal made the result a bit doubtful. The Rangers thereafter showed a better combination, although there was nothing between the teams.
