Match Trivia

At Ibrox Park last night Partick Thistle emulated their capital performance against the Celtic on Wednesday night, and the team may congratulate themselves on making such a creditable show against both their redoubtable opponents. There was but a poor turnout of spectators, and the crowd would probably be about 2000. The weather was fine, but somewhat sultry. Rangers won the toss, and were the first to show to advantage, some nice aggressive work coming from the right wing. Thus early the home team assumed the upper hand, and they maintained their advantage throughout the first moiety; but slackness in front of goal was failing of the Ibrox quintets, and it was 40 minutes from the start ere the only goal of the first half was scored by Gibson 10 yards out. The second half was more equally contested. Both teams in the first few minutes had goals disallowed. Cameron made the Rangers majority two, and then Freebairn with some really clever touches beat the home defence. Shortly afterwards a penalty was awarded the Thistle, and Campbell had no difficulty in banging past Dickie. The game therefore, resulted in a draw of two goals each. That Partick Thistle made such a creditable show was due to their fine defence, who if somewhat inartistic in clearing are determined and safe. Hyslop was the best of the front rank. The Rangers were all fair, with Graham, Tutty and Cameron the stars
