Match Trivia
A large and enthusiastic but impartial crowd assembled at the East Ferry Road ground, Millwall, to see this match, and once again the Millwall team showed excellent combination. As on the previous day, when opposing the Scottish Amateurs, they pressed most accurately, and with Calvey and Hill at their best when within fair range of goal, it can be easily understood that the Rangers had a defensive game to play. At first the Glasgow men pressed, and called up Adam to save, but as soon as Millwall had once steadied themselves there was little doubt as to the result. Wilkie had to save for the Rangers in goal, but Hill and Calvey quickly scored goals for Millwall, who led at halftime by 2 to 0. A brief effort on the part of the Glasgow forwards looked dangerous, but Miller, their centre who played a fine game was badly supported. Hill bad Calvey again beat the Scotch goalkeeper. Indeed it was Calvey’s day, for before the finish he added another goal. Then a plucky run and shot by Oswald on the left scored the only point for the visitors. Millwall thus won by 5 goals to 1.
