Match Trivia
A friendly was played between these teams on Dalziel Park, Motherwell on Saturday afternoon before a fair turnout of spectators. The Rangers played with black band on their arm as a mark of respect for a diseased club mate (Pringle), who was buried on Saturday. The visitors started the game with the sun in their eyes, and the first fifteen minutes favoured the ground eleven, who on several occasions looked like scoring. Play continued pretty even for some time afterwards, and halftime was drawing near when Wright opened the scoring for Motherwell. Halftime – Motherwell 1 Rangers 0. Two minutes of the second half had barely gone when Marshall with a low shot put on the equaliser. Fifteen minutes later Leighton was injured through a fall, and had to retire. Although handicapped by the want of a man, the home team played up well, and kept their opponenets in check fill five minutes from call of time, when two goals were registered against them, Barker and Gray being credited with a goal each. A pleasant game thus ended – Rangers 3: Motherwell 1.
