Match Trivia
Fully 6000 spectators witnessed this match at Ibrox Park, Govan. Everton lost the toss, and Mitchell kicked off. Latta and Bell essayed a run, but Mitchell intercepted, and placed the ball well into Everton territory. Here Barker safely negotiated Lindsay and centred, but the pass was missed and the chance lost. Returning to the attack, the Rangers had a good chance, and Gray placed the ball in the net, when the referee allowed an appeal for offside. Shortly afterwards Barker scored for the Rangers, who were leading by 1 goal to nil at halftime. The Rangers had to play against a strong wind in the second half. The Everton right, Bell and Latta had a run, and Latta screwed a ball from the right corner, which struck the crossbar. The Rangers came away with a rush, and after Williams had fisted out a shot from Gray, he was defeated by a long one from McCreadie – two goals for the Rangers. A corner for Everton was converted by Bell into a goal. The game was a poor one all through. Result – Rangers 3 goals: Everton 1 goal.
