Match Trivia
An unfamiliar look about Rangers with Gray, Bolt, Venters, Smith and other notables absent, and Rangers forward play was almost as unfamiliar. I missed the strong, flexible, harmonious movements and the assertive confidence usually seen. Instead play was ragged and uncertain, minus the deceptiveness which has made the Ibrox van the most dangerous in the league. Third Lanark conception of the forward game was sound in comparison. Forwards advanced with clearer understanding, and had chances which, with a wee bit of luck, might have been turned to advantage when against the wind in the first half. Connor and again Glassey missed perfect pinches. Waddell, with a right knee twice damaged in the first period, did not appear in the second. But the handicap was more apparent than real. Four forwards moved with more freedom and gave considerable dangerous trouble to the Warriors defence. Praise for all the Warriors defence and Jones strongest forward afield. Dawson, Shaw, Woodburn and Brown best of Ibrox defenders.
