Match Trivia
Teacher Brown taught Them how to play soccer at Ibrox yesterday and made his final point by saving the game for Rangers with a goal-making pass. What a pity I didnt arrange for seats for all those dull, drab and disappointing players who have failed to amuse me or anybody else recently. We could have put them in their seats and told them to look, watch and scribble notes. There was no Monday morning feeling about this game. Nothing creaked. Everything was brisk, entertaining. Rangers might have scored a few in the first-half, but their shooting was so long it got tired before it reached Henderson. The Thornton boy apologised generously for the faults of others by whipping in a grand goal just on the interval. Thistle had an excellent second half. And a brilliant goal from Picken a long and lovely sixteen yards affair after a minutes play. Then the ball (from McSpadyen) went in off Dougie Gray for Thistle second. After which Thistle played some of the old Rangers teams and Rangers played like any old commonplace team. Three minutes from the end I was diving among the pocket literature to see just when Rangers lost a match at Ibrox when Henderson diving along, but couldnt get at a clever, strong shot from Galloway. Which shot resulted from an accurate cross from George Brown. I liked the baby of this Thistle team Sharp. He has what Mr Brown has. I think you know what I mean
