Match Trivia

The Rangers gave a beautiful display of football at Cowdenbeath and won comfortable. Thie forwards moved with wonderful precision, and the wings had every assistance from the half-backs. In the early minutes of the game both goals ran narrow escapes. The Rangers were the more impressive, however, and on one of their attacks full advantages was taken of a slight slip by Hopewell. Fleming moved up on the home goal, and parting to the left, Morton from a few yards out beat McLean. Not long afterwards Fleming converted a cross from Morton, and this was followed by the Rangers’ centre scoring a third shortly before the interval. The second half was not long in operation when a fine movement, carried through by Archibald and Fleming resulted in the latter scoring again. A few hard knocks were going, and on one occasion Meiklejohn got into words with Wilson, and as a result of the dispute the Rangers’ player was sent to the pavilion. Cowdenbeath at this period had a very uphill task, but towards the close they managed to get the better of Hamilton, Pullar finding the net with a swerving shot. The game was a hard one from beginning to end, but Cowdenbeath has an uphill fight most of the time. Archibald showed very good form, and so did Morton. As before indicated the forwards were clever, Fleming having the hat trick. Meiklejohn performed some wonderful work at half-back, and McCandless was very successful at back. On the Cowdenbeath side the play on the whole was only of a moderate kind. The right wing, Pullar and Rankin were quite good, and Frame was seldom beaten at centre-half. The club have not yet got their back division up to the necessary standard. Meiklejohn was sent off after 75 minutes
