While I do not want to be severe on Lochgelly United, the fact remains that they were extremely fortunate to lose to Rangers by so barrow a margin. On top practically from the start, Rangers indulged in the finer points of the game, and when it came to putting the finishing touch to the opportunities which naturally occurred, they sometimes did not seem inclined to plie on the agony. Rangers first foal resulted from a splendid run by Archibald. He outwitted Nicol and Gray before crossing right in front of Orr for Henderson to slash the ball into the net. Craig added another soon afterwards, but Orr was unlucky not to save his shot. Five minutes later Henderson put Rangers further ahead with a stinging drive. Although not so palpably outclassed in the second half, Lochgelly were still kept hemmed in, but after Henderson had beaten Orr again, Neilson too advantage of a careless slip by the Ibrox defence and scored for Lochgelly.
