Match Trivia
After allowing for the team changes on both sides, the difficult breeze and the soft ground, I am bound to say the game at Ibrox was not up to standard. If Rangers were the better team, they were all the more at fault in not making use of their superiority to give us some quality football. Perhaps for one thing, they scored too early and imagined the rest was easy. But after Cunningham had headed the opening goal in three minutes from Henderson’s nice centre, they did not score again until half-an hour of the second half had gone. Then Hansen drove home from nearly thirty yards following a clearance by a Hamilton defender. The Rangers played better after this, but Hunter and Barrington were always sound and there looked to be no more goals coming until Hansen met a centre from Morton and scored a wonderful goal. Robb had scarcely anything to do, though he saved magnificently a shot by Paterson in the second half. Jamieson was rather fluky, but Manderson was safe. Muirhead was the cleverest of the half-backs, and Cunningham and Cairns the best of the forwards. The passes to Hansen were too close but the Dane got his two goals in great style. Henderson did quite well on the right. Hamilton had a sound defence with Hunter, Stell and Kirkwood always prominent. Collins was missed from the attack, where there was a lack of grip
