Match Trivia
With St Mirren at Ibrox, Rangers were up against a hurricane of wind and rain in the first half. They played nippy football. The Saints did not impress. They were slack on the wings. Rangers crossed with a safe lead of two goals. Paterson got the first in eighteen minutes. He got the clear from Walls in an offside position, and having an open course, went in for the beating of OHagan. The goalie touched, but only helped the ball into the net. Seven minutes later Archibald scored from a scrum in front of OHagan. Cunningham made the initial opening, and Archi found himself placed for a score, and made no error. The Light Blues carried no passengers, and were worth the double count at the cross. Both sides had a changed formation on resumption. Muirhead went off the field, and McKenna played on following an injury. Even against a one-man handicap the Saints front rankers were easily discounted. In the last lap Buchanan got through and beat Lock, but was fouled in the process, and a penalty was the award instead of a goal. Riddell made good from the mark; and from their showing yesterday, one can see danger ahead for he Paisley side at Stevenson this week-end. For Rangers, Lock, Gordon, Bowie Archibald and Cairns were outstanding. OHagan played well for St Mirren, Lavery outshone Lennon and Pringle was the best half-back
