Match Trivia
Falkirk’s luck was completely out against Rangers, who walked off with the full points and a total score of 4 goals to 0. It was a good game up till Rangers opened their register ten minutes from the interval, and after this period the Light Blues altered the entire complexion of the game, rattling on three goals in quick succession. The first was got by Gordon with a clean left footer right into the bottom corner of the net. He got the ball well out after a scrimmage between the defence and the forwards, and slipping two of the Falkirk players cut the ball nicely through the net. The second goal, which was taken by McLean, was somewhat of a fluke. The wind seemed to whisk the ball out of Henderson’s hands into the net. Falkirk’s defence became rattled, and Bowie completely baffled the Falkirk custodian for the third time. The Bairns were considerably handicapped by the absence of the centre, Rutherford, in the second half. The Winchburgh lad sustained a serious face injury, and was not able to appear. Rangers took the game in hand from the resumption, and when Gordon added a fourth to the score Falkirk’s defeat and discomfiture were complete. It was only occasionally that the Brockville forwards got within shooting range of the Light Blues goal. The Ibrox team played with rare confidence and Skill. Their defence was splendid, and the halves fed the forwards nicely. Falkirk were erratic, and their forwards play was entirely disjoined by the absence of their centre
