Match Trivia

With the wind and sun behind them at Pittodrie, Rangers ought to have at least held their own till the interval. They had the pull for half-an-hour, but their finishing was weak. After that Aberdeen came away in fine style, and Ambler gave them the goal lead with which they turned about with. The Glasgow side deteriorated as the ‘Aberdonians’ improved, and the second half was little more than a minute old when John Wyllie, who was worked with success as a centre-forward, dashed through the Ibrox backs and left Hempsey helpless. Aberdeen had by far the better of matters till the finish, although a blundering defence enabled C Duncan to snatch a simple goal for the ‘Light blues.’ Two minutes later, however, J Wyllie restored Pittodrie’s two goal advantage. McKenna (injured) was absent for the greater part of the time from a Rangers side which found itself up against a team superior in every department. Cairns was the best of the Glasgow forwards, and Colman, Calder, Brewster, Perry, Wyllie, Cail and Wylie were Aberdeen’s strong men
