At Shawfield Park, Glasgow estimated attendance 18,000 drawings (gate and stands) £440. Clyde were early on the attack, and Rennie had twice to save from Stirling, whose shooting was of an excellent nature. Rangers’ forwards were not nearly so energetic as the home five, and it was all that the light blues defence could do to keep Clyde from scoring. At is was Stirling after beating Craig ran in and scored, but had the goal disallowed owing to a foul having been given for Craig’s attempted trip. Just on halftime and immediately after Walker had narrowly missed with the best shot of the game, Bennett scored. Rangers led by one goal to nothing at halftime. In the second half the game was more even, and Gilligan and Blair got much more work to do than in the first portion. The Clyde forwards although playing good football did not shoot with the same accuracy as they had shown at the beginning, and Rennie was seldom troubled. Bennett and McDonald, although well fed by May and Stark, did not give a very bright display, and the best of the Rangers forwards were the inside men
