Match Trivia
At Broomfield Park, Airdrie estimated attendance 11,000, drawings (gate and stands) £268. Playing fine forward football, Rangers scored twice in three minutes, Gordon getting the first from a corner and Campbell the second from a free kick. Ten minutes later Murray was injured in a tackle, and Rangers were never the same team after. From a grand run and centre by S Young, Nicol scored for Airdrieonians who despite having the better of the game were a goal down at halftime. Fifteen minutes after resuming the home side were two goals up. Donaldson opened by converting a pass from Hunter, Finlay followed with a magnificently taken goal, and Hunter would up by walking through the fourth. Murray then returned and Rangers rearranged their side, playing one back and putting Campbell centre forward. They played very pluckily and before the finish reduced the leeway, McPherson scoring for them.
